Hangin with Winnie

There are many downsides to reading a 1000+ page biography (in this case, Churchill: A Life by Martin Gilbert).  But the upside of spending this long with the same book is that I do feel like Winston has become part of my own life.  I find myself saying things to my husband like, “You’ll never guess what Winston did now.  When he got ousted from the cabinet leadership during WWI, he went and joined the army.  I had no idea that he fought on the front lines in Belgium!”

I think my husband is getting sick of this (or jealous of Winnie, as I’ve taken to calling him around the dinner table).  I’ve only made to 1921, though, so Winnie isn’t going anywhere just yet.
